Guitarist Ross Whitaker was born in Lexington, Kentucky. His peripatetic undergraduate years found him studying at Bellarmine University and Cincinnati Conservatory of Music before finishing up at the University of Kentucky, whence he received his B.A. in Music. He has since continued at U.K. with graduate studies in musicology, which shall conclude in the near future with the completion of a thesis on musical borrowing in the earlier music of Frank Zappa.
As a performer, Ross has garnered a broad range of experience. He has shared the stage with artists like Bob Mintzer and Lorrie Morgan, and opened for Karl Denson, Brian Auger, and RAQ. He performs regularly as a member of Sexual Disaster Quartet and maintains a private teaching studio.
